Looking for a fun easy way to change up the look of your room? Look no further than pillow covers! They are a great space saving way to instantly change the look of your room without having to store a bunch of bulky pillows. This beginner knitting pattern is the perfect project to kick start spring or even summer and color into your home. It is so fun and so bright! Another reason I am OBSESSED with knitting pillow covers is that they are so easy to make. With a toddler running around, I need to have a pattern that is pretty mindless, without a lot of stitch counting or switches. This easy knitting pattern is perfect for an experienced knitter looking for a project you can do with your eyes closed or a beginner knitter looking to practice your new skills.

Flamingo Lagoon Knit Pillow Cover – The Yarn
Before you start knitting, you are going to need to gather your supplies. First thing you need to get for this simple beginner knitting pattern is the yarn. For this pattern I used two different brands/types of yarn. If you want to make this pillow cover in the same colors as pictured, you will need one skein Caron Century Collection – One Pound Yarn in Robin’s Egg, one skein of Caron Simply Soft Yarn in Watermelon and 1 skein of Caron Simply Soft Yarn in White. These two types of yarn are very easy to care for. I have two young children and I need everything in my house to be machine washable. These covers have been thrown in the washing machine with various of other household items and they have come out perfectly clean and even softer than when they went in.

Flamingo Lagoon Knit Pillow Cover – The Needles
Next you are going to need the tools to knit with. For this knit pillow cover pattern I used my favorite knitting needles, ChiaoGoo Red Lace Knitting Needle US Size 5. I have used so many needles, plastic ones, bamboo ones, cheep mystery metal, and these ChiaoGoo needles are my favorite. If you are looking to build a knitting supply stash and are just starting out, I cannot recommend these ChiaoGoo Twist Stainless Steel Interchangeable Set enough. They are a little on the pricy side, but they are really the only set of needles you will ever need.

Additional Supplies
There are only a few other items you may want to get make this knit pillow cover pattern a little easier. You will probably want to get some spacers. For this pattern I used 2 spacers. Placing pacer every so many stitches make it easier to count stitches in smaller groups. You may also want to get a row counter. This pattern does not have a lot of different rows so it is pretty easy to just count by looking, but it is nice to have just in case. Lastly you will need a tapestry needle or small crochet hook to stitch up the sides of the pillow case.
A few other things I like to use when I knit, but you do not have to are a yarn bowl to keep my yarn neat and not getting tangled all over the place, and a yarn winder to make nice neat center pull yarn cakes.
I hope you love working on this easy knitting pattern as much as I have!
