Looking for an easy Valentines Day craft project you can do you you kids every year? If you are like me, you love anything you can do with your kids that tracks their progression over their young lives. I do a lot of the same projects year after year with my daughter, and now my son, because 1) they love them and 2) I love seeing how their skills, personalities and attitudes change as they grow. This super easy Valentines Day project is one I have been doing since my 6 year old daughter was 3, and since my son was 1. So no matter what age kiddos you have, or if you even want to do this for yourself year after year, this project is a fun easy way to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Supplies
First thing you need for this easy Valentines Day craft project are the wooden hearts. I use these have always large wood hearts. They are hefty and smooth with a hole in the back so you can hang them up if you want. I also got this three pack of smaller hearts just for fun! Next you need your art supplies. I’m sure most of you with kiddos are flush with art supplies, but incase you are not or you need to restock I usually put out some paint with paint brushes or Q-Tips (these make for easy clean-up and no water sitting around waiting to be spilled), markers, dot paint, stickers and puffy paint. The last thing is put out for this project are the mats. I have a craft mat that makes clean up really easy! I need to get another craft mat, but for now this placemat will work.

The Tradition I am Hoping to Form
I have done this with my daughter for the last 3 years and my son for the last 2 years. My plan is to do this with them for until they are 18 years old. I know what you are thinking “they are not going to want to do this when they are teenagers!” and to that I say “good!” I want to see how their personalities, interests and talents change and evolve over time. I want a to have a heart from their really artsy period with lots of color and detail. And I also want to have a heart from their angsty days when all they want to draw is a black dot. I want it all and I will cherish each one.
